Regulation

Art. 1 – PROMOTER SUBJECT AND PURPOSE OF THE COMPETITION

The promoter of the “ARTS IN ROME Award” is the CULTURAL ASSOCIATION ARTS IN ROME with the collaboration of international bodies and associations operating in the sector.
The ARTS IN ROME Award is an annual competition aimed at promoting artists and contemporary art.
The 2020 edition is addressed to the PAINTING category only with the following expressions:

  • Abstract
  • Figurative

Excluded: sculpture, photography, illustration, video art, comics, performance, etc.
The Winning Works of the ARTS IN ROME 2020 Award will be awarded during the dedicated event (“Award Event”).
Registration closes on June 30, 2020.

Art. 2 – THEME

The theme of the 2020 edition is free

Art. 3 – PARTICIPATION

Artists of all nationalities and residences who are 18 years of age and are in compliance with the registration arrangements in paragraph 8 of this regulation may participate in the Prize.

Art. 4 – MEMBERS IN CHARGE OF THE COMPETITION

The members in charge of this competition is the Curatorial Committee, whose members are chosen by the ARTS IN ROME CULTURAL ASSOCIATION
The decisions of the Curatorial Committee will be irrefutable and unquestionable in any place.

Art. 5 – CREATIVE AREAS AND CATEGORIES IN COMPETITION

               The Prize is divided into 2 categories:

  • Figurative;
  • Abstract;

Each contestant will be required to specify the individual category for which they intend to participate. You can also participate in multiple creative areas with a single work each, paying the expected fee for each work uploaded.

Art. 6 – THE ARTWORKS

Fundamental criteria of selection will be the quality, the research, the originality, the contemporary nature of the work, the relevance to the theme of the Prize.
By quality, research and originality, we mean the personal search of the portrait subject that should not be saved by photographic archives on the Internet, rather painted/drawn by the real or from a photograph taken personally by the competing artist.
There will be no subject, technique or style and support restrictions, on canvas or on paper.
Pictorial work refers to any use or manual interventionof oil, tempera,ac rilico, industrial paint, ink, watercolor, vinyl, gouache, crayons. Any requests for technical and media details will be evaluated. Copiesof existing works havebeen excluded.
The Artist will be able to present works that have been recently created or already realized.
Each artist will have to indicate the title of the work and a short text explaining the link between the project presented and the theme of the Prize. Specify technique, measurements, and send files for paper publishing even in high resolution.

Art. 7 – SELECTION AND PRIZES

7.1 SELECTION

The selection will take place with the vision of the works, considered to comply with the regulation by the Secretariat, in digital format by the Curatorial Committee. A general ranking by category will then be drawn up.
Among all the works considered valid the first 10 selected will participate in the exhibition that will take place as final event and that will serve for evaluation by the Curatorial Committee for the award of the Final Prize for each section.

7.2 PRIZES

For the first 10 selected works:

Exhibition – public event in Roma at Spazio Cima Gallery and in Florence at OnArt Gallery accompanied by Press Communication, Vernissage with open invitation on 2020* (Covid-19 permitted)
Catalog of the Arts in Rome 2020 Award, print and digital with publication and ISBN;
Among the works participating in the Final Event, the Jury, after the real viewing, will award the following prizes:

  • 1st FIGURATIVE SECTION: 500 euros
  • 1st ABSTRACT SECTION: 500 euros

The amount of premiums may increase and/or the implementation of additional premiums, depending on the number of entries received Cash prizes will be charged via bank transfer or other electronic methods. Any fees due for foreign currency transfers will be deducted from the amount of the prize.
With the acceptance of the awards, the winners give the organization the right to publish the image and to the economic exploitation of the image, maintaining the right to be recognized as authors of the Work. All artists registered for the award grant explicit permission to publish the submitted work online and in print.
The prizes are subject, under art. 30 of the D.P.R. 600/73, withholding tax by waiver by CULTURAL ASSOCIATION ARTS IN ROME to the retaliation.

7.3 SPECIAL AWARDS

Spazio Cima – Roma

Select the artist who stands out among all the participants (even if they are not part of the finalists or winners) and offers free insertion in any of the Collective Exhibitions by 2022 at his own exhibition space in Rome, including vernissage with cocktail, press office communication and brochures, with inclusion in its online shop.

Uozzart Magazine

Select the artist who most distinguishes among all the participants (even if they are not part of the finalists or winners) and offers an interview on his own Magazine and the free insertion of his next event for three months.

OnArt Gallery Firenze

Select two artist who stands out among all the participants (even if they are not part of the finalists or winners) and offers a 8-day exhibition in the Gallery by 2021, including vernissage with cocktail and press office communication

Art. 8 – TERMS AND REGISTRATION MODE 

Interested artists can register by June 30, 2020, using only the ON-LINE mode on the  https://premio.artsinrome.com website; within the form you must enter, for each work you intend to participate,

  • your data;
  • the image of the work to be presented in competition (definition 300 dpi in .jpg format with dimensions no larger than 3Mb);
  • caption of the work: title, technique, size;
  • a short text explaining the Work;
  • CV;
  • how to pay the participation fee.

Within 15 days after the registration deadline, the Curatorial Committee will select the first 10 finalist works that will be able to access the final selection. A specific event will be created for the selection of finalists where the Curatorial Committee will have the opportunity to view the works personally.
The maximum size allowed for the long side of the work is 100 cm including any frame. The work must already be prepared with the attachments, subject to the lack of exposure.
In the event of impossibility/withdrawal of participation by the Winner will be called the next in the ranking.

PARTICIPATION FEE:

The Arts in Rome Prize 2020 competition can be attended with 1 or 2 or 3 works, but only one can be selected for the final event and be awarded.
The share of participation, partially covering organizational expenses, is of

30 euros (thirty euros) for a work
45 euros (forty euros) for two works
60 euros (sixty euros) for three works

The payment of the registration fee can be made through:

  • Online by credit card: PAYPAL (in this case the fee is increased by 2 euros to cover the fees)
  • Bank Transfer: current account in the name of “Arts Association in Rome” – Unicredit Bank / IBAN IT 68 Q 02008 05090 000104690578 – BIC/SWIFT UNCRITM1 C19 with causal CONCORSO ARTS Award IN ROME 2020, artist’s first and last name

The registration is perfected with the payment, which involves the complete acceptance of this Regulation.

PHASES AND DEADLINES

For the purpose of registration, Artists will have to fill out the online form in all its parts on the  https://premio.artsinrome.com website, entering the required data and making the regular payment.
By filling out the Registration Form, the Artist declares that he fully accepts the Regulation of the ARTS IN ROME 2020 Award, declares and guarantees the full availability of the Work as well as the exclusive ownership, of all rights to it, including the right to publish the image and economic exploitation of the Work; gives away to arts award IN ROME 2020, without any time limit, the ability (but not the obligation) to reproduce and use the image of the Work and/or the Registration Documentation, in all or part, directly or through third parties, also for economic, advertising and/or promotional purposes and to publish it, even partially, on any means of communication or support, including the competition’s website, and in any manner, without the Artist being able to oppose any limitation, even of a territorial nature, or exception, expressly renouncing any right or claim in this regard; claims to be entirely responsible for the contents of the visual and textual material transmitted; declares that it is aware that the submission of the Registration Documentation incomplete and/or non-compliant with this Regulation is a cause of exclusion from the ARTS IN ROME 2020 Award; authorizes the cultural association ARTS IN ROME to retain the image of the Work and Registration Documentation, notating that they will not be returned; Expressly authorizes the cultural association ARTS IN ROME to process personal data in accordance with the subsequent Article 11 of this Regulation, under the terms and effects of the D.lgs. of 29 July 2003 n. 196; declares that it accepts all the decisions of the Curatorial Committee, including the selection of the finalist works and the winning works, acknowledging that they are unquestionable and irrefutable in any location; declares that it maintains and maintains cultural association ARTS IN ROME undeterred by any claim that should be made by third parties in relation to the Work and/or its reproduction, publication and/or exploitation, even economic; states that it is aware that the Work would be excluded from the ARTS IN ROME 2019 Award if it was all or part copied or carried out in violation of the rights of others; 

It is specified that the work will remain the property of the artist.

Art. 9 – AWARDS, PUBLICATION AND EXHIBITION OF THE WORKS

The award event, the opening of the exhibition of the winning works, will take place in 2020, except for unforeseeable events and causes of greater strength. For the purposes of the award event and the exhibition, the selected artists will be required to submit the work. It will be the care of ARTS IN ROME to contact the individual artists by e-mail to provide the necessary instructions for sending the Work.
All Prizes awarded must be withdrawn no later than 30 days from the award date.

Art. 10 – SHIPMENT OF ARTWORKS

The expedition of the works of the finalists will be totally managed only by the MailBoxes MBE089 Branch of Via dei Mille, Rome with a way to be agreed following announcement. The Arts association in Rome, organizer of the Arts Prize in Rome, raises all responsibility related to the shipping and transport of the works.

Art. 11 – PROCESSING PERSONAL DATA

In the senses and effects of art. 13 of the d.lgs. 30 June 2003 196 196 personal data and images that are acquired under this ARTS IN ROME 2020 Award are collected and processed, also with the help of electronic means, for the purposes and activities related to the performance of the ARTS IN ROME 2020 Award, including the realization of exhibition events and publication on thewebsite www.artsinrome.comand catalogue, that is, to fulfil the legal obligations.
Artists entered in the competition will have the right to exercise, with regard to the existence and processing of personal data concerning them, rights referred to in art. 7 of the decree.
The owner of the data processing is the CULTURAL ASSOCIATION ARTS IN ROME

Art. 12 – APPLICABLE LAW

The rights and obligations arising from the Competition are governed by Italian law.
The ARTS IN ROME 2020 Award is outside the application of the D.P.R. 26 October 2001, No 430 ‘Regulation on the organic review of the discipline of competitions and prize transactions, as well as local events of fate, under Article 19, paragraph 4, of L. 27 December 1997, No 449’, as it is aimed at the production of artistic works and the awards are based on the consideration of the performance of the work or the personal merit of the artists, or are intended for institutions or institutions that are public or have eminently social or beneficial purposes under art. 6, paragraph 1. (e) and e) of the aforementioned D.P. R. 430/2001.
